The series was announced on September 20, 2022, at the GPU Technology Conference, and launched on October 12, 2022, starting with its flagship model, the RTX 4090. It was succeeded by the GeForce RTX 50 series, which debuted on January 30, 2025, after being previously announced at CES. The cards are based on Nvidia's Ada Lovelace arc
