Week 6 of The Division 2’s Year 8 Season 2 “Into the Dark” is here, and the Scout 6 manhunt challenges are all about the Dark Zone. Three tasks, all requiring you to suit up and head into the most lawless part of the map.
If you fell off the DZ grind in previous seasons, this might sting a little. But the good news is that Year 8 revamped the Dark Zone’s mechanics, making these objectives more approachable than they used to be.
What’s on the board
The three clues decoded into straightforward objectives: complete one extraction, clear two Landmarks, and eliminate five Elite hostiles — all in any Dark Zone. No faction preferences, no time-of-day restrictions. Just pure DZ activity.
This is a shift from last week’s HVT-focused hunt, which had players tracking targets across the open world. For Y8S2, the developers clearly want agents re-engaging with the PvPvE zone, and they’ve tweaked the risk-reward balance accordingly.
Key detail: Extractions first
The extraction task is the most time-sensitive. You can’t just kill stuff and leave — you have to call a chopper, survive the countdown, and hook onto a rope. Playing on higher difficulties swarms you with extra enemies during the wait.
“Once you reach the extraction point, use a rope, or a teammate’s rope, to escape the Dark Zone.”
It’s a single objective, but it’s often the one that trips up solo players who get ganked by rogues mid-extraction. Running in a group is safer, but if you’re flying solo, consider the less populated DZ east.
The Landmarks and Elite kills can be farmed together. Clear a Landmark, and Elites usually spawn as you finish off the area’s leadership. You can spread the five Elite eliminations across multiple sessions, so no rush.
Bigger picture: Year 8’s DZ refresh
Ubisoft’s overhaul of the Dark Zone in Y8S2 aimed to reduce the one-shot meta and encourage more tactical engagements. Gear drops were rebalanced, and extraction timers were adjusted to give solo players a fighting chance. This Scout week is the first real test of whether those changes stick for the casual player base.
It also comes at a time when The Division 2 is seeing a modest player resurgence thanks to cross-platform save support and a steady cadence of seasonal content. The manhunt structure keeps veterans logging in weekly, and forcing them back into the DZ is a deliberate move to breathe life into the game’s most controversial mode.
What’s next
Completing Scout 6 unlocks the next step in the manhunt chain, bringing you closer to the season’s climax mission. Expect Scout 7 next week to likely flip back to a PvE-focused objective, possibly involving faction strongholds or control points — the developers tend to rotate between zone types to keep things from getting stale.
For now, grab your best DZ loadout, watch your back for rogues, and get those extractions done.
