The Speed Merchant Evolution is live in FC 26, and it turns one eligible attacker or midfielder into a 97 overall speed weapon after the final upgrade. The short version is simple: if you already own a capped card with speed, shooting upside, or both, this can be one of the cleaner ways to make that card feel newly meta.
That last clause matters. Speed Merchant is not a universal upgrade. It is a specialist tool for clubs that need pace, shooting, and late-match physicality, and it is not worth the coins if your squad can already solve those problems elsewhere.
Speed Merchant Evolution requirements
To qualify, a player must be 96 overall or lower, have 10 PlayStyles or fewer, and have 4 PlayStyle+ slots or fewer. Position is also strict: CB and GK are not eligible.
That eligibility filter is why the best targets are not random cheap cards. The Evolution is built for specific promo items that already have enough room to absorb the final package without breaking the cap.
The upgrade path is split into three levels. Level 1 is the headline: +15 Overall to 97, +30 Acceleration to 97, +30 Sprint Speed to 97, plus Rapid PlayStyle+ and Gamechanger.
Level 2 adds +30 Finishing, +30 Positioning, and +30 Shot Power, all capped at 95. Level 3 adds +30 Long Shots, +30 Penalties, +4 Weak Foot, plus Quick Step and Enforcer.
