Where the Chest Actually Is
Black Island (914, 612) sits east of Nassau and northeast of Great Inagua. If you've done Lucy Baldwin's officer quest "The One With the Gun," you've already been here. The chest rests on the northern edge of the island, guarded by a patrol route that makes a direct approach annoying.
The Route That Works
Spawn at the Viewpoint. Don't fight down the cliff — drop off the back side toward the tree trunk hanging over the water. Jump in, swim to the beach, and climb the wooden scaffold marked on the map. Through the archway, hit the pulley to zip across, then take the left platform up. The path funnels you right to the chest. Two minutes max if you don't get spotted.
Why This Outfit Matters
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced launched July 9, 2026 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Redingote is one of the few legendary outfits you can grab early without sequence locks or fleet missions. It's purely cosmetic — no stat bonuses — but it's the best-looking coat in the game for a pirate fantasy playthrough. Edward Kenway's default gear looks like a hand-me-down by comparison.
The Catch
Enemies patrol the chest area. The game's detection radius on Black Island is tighter than main-map locations — you'll trigger combat if you sprint the last stretch. Use the tall grass near the pulley landing. Wait for the patrol to turn, then sprint the final platform. If you're spotted, the chest stays locked until you clear the area or lose line of sight.
What Else Is Out There
Black Flag Resynced carries over the original's outfit hunt: Governor's outfit, Pirate Captain, Mayan armor (requires 16 template fragments), and the Shark Hunter gear from harpooning. The Redingote is the only one locked behind a single chest on a named island with no prerequisites. Everything else demands sequence progression, collectible grinding, or Kenway's Fleet micromanagement.
Worth the Detour
If you're sailing past Gibara anyway, the two-minute detour pays off visually for the rest of the campaign. If you're beelining the main story, it'll still be there in Sequence 8 when the map opens up fully. No rush — but no reason to skip it either.
