First things first: don't even think about heading out without a solid vehicle. The distance between the starting zones and Arrakeen is deceptively large, and on foot you'll be a sitting duck for sandworms and the AI-driven patrols that roam the deep desert. A fully upgraded ornithopter is your best bet, but even a well-maintained sand bike can get you there if you're careful. Stock up on spare parts and repair kits before you leave.
Another critical prep step is checking the weather forecast. The AI arms race in the Shai-Hulud territory means local weather systems can shift from calm to a full-blown Coriolis storm in minutes. Make sure your vehicle has a shielded cabin and that you have enough spice-infused water to outlast any unexpected delays. Getting caught in a storm without shelter is a death sentence.
Charting Your Route
There are two main approaches to reaching Arrakeen. The first is the "safe" route that follows the established trade paths through the Shield Wall canyons. This route is longer but offers more cover from worms and patrols. You'll pass through several small settlements where you can restock and repair. The downside is that these paths are also frequented by bandits and rival scavengers, so keep your weapons ready.

Entering Arrakeen

You'll need to grind some quests to afford a decent place.
Another essential step is unlocking the city's fast travel network. Look for the local navigator's office near the main gate. They'll offer you a quest to prove your worth, usually involving delivering a message or eliminating a few Harkonnen spies. Completing this will give you access to the web of travel points, saving you from having to make that treacherous journey again. It's a small investment for a huge payoff.
Finally, explore the city's markets and guild halls. The Ace Combat series-style dogfighting instructors in the city can teach you advanced aerial maneuvers, which are invaluable for future desert crossings.
