Category: General Snap’s EWC 2026 activation puts AR lenses on Paris arena screens for the first time Snap has unveiled its largest Esports World Cup activation to date, embedding CamKit technology into arena video boards and rolling out AR experiences across Paris venues through Aug. 23.
Todd Mason | Published FR: Jul 27, 2026 03:58 am Fans attending the Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris will be able to point their phones at the arena video boards and interact with live Snapchat Lenses when the games are in full swing.
This is Snap's biggest EWC activation so far, integrating its CamKit technology directly into screens across the venue, a capability that has never been deployed at the tournament until now.
Snap Inc. and the Esports Foundation confirmed the full scope of the partnership at the weekend, covering the ongoing Paris edition of EWC 2026, which runs until August 23.
What Snap's activation includes Besides the CamKit video board integration, the partnership brings several additional fan-facing features to Paris: A full-on Esports World Cup AR experience available through Snapchat EWC venue locations mapped directly on Snap Map for navigation across fan zones AR Mirror activations placed throughout the event spaces A custom EWC Snapchat Lens created exclusively for the tournament Daily creator content, match reactions, and behind-the-scenes coverage produced by participating creators throughout the event It all sounds super fun and should give attendees plenty to do whenever they’re not cheering on their favorite teams.
The EWC 2026 itself is already a hefty undertaking.
According to Sports Video Group, the tournament features more than 2,000 players competing across 25 individual title tournaments , with a combined prize pool of $75 million.
Small wonder it stretches until the end of August.

"Gaming is one of the most active and engaged communities on Snapchat, particularly in Saudi Arabia where millions of Snapchatters engage with gaming content every month," Alhajjar said. "The Esports World Cup has quickly established itself as one of the defining moments on the global gaming calendar, and we're excited to bring our biggest activation yet to Paris, creating new ways for fans to connect with the competition, creators and culture that make esports unique." AbdulKareem Niazi, Director of Corporate Marketing, Campaigns and PR at the Esports Foundation , said the partnership is all about community expression. "The Esports World Cup is shaped by its communities," Niazi said. "Every one of those communities has its own identity, expressed through language, humor, traditions and its own way of celebrating the games it loves.
Our partnership with Snap celebrates that creativity and gives communities new ways to share it with the world.” How it fits EWC's broader Paris push This weeks Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup 2026 knockout stage The Snap deal makes the commercial buildout for EWC's Paris edition bigger financially, and more interesting for fans in attendance.
Hilton was named as a Main Partner of the tournament when the event relocated from Saudi Arabia, while Saudi Airlines has maintained its position as the official airline partner for 2026.
On Aug. 2, EWC will also take the competition outside the arena entirely, with a free, open-air festival planned for the Champs-Élysées that will take the event to a whole new audience in the city, including people with only a passing interest in esports.
The executive side of the event will gather at the five-star Hôtel du Collectionneur during the tournament's closing days for Esports Leaders, a senior industry summit tied to EWC's Paris presence.
Short-form social platforms like Snap are deepening their investment in esports, which is hardly surprising since a solid portion of their target audience are there.
TikTok knows this well and recently partnered with ESL FACEIT Group to bring vertical-format livestream broadcasts to tournament audiences.
But where that deal prioritizes mobile-first broadcast distribution, Snap's approach is more about augmented reality and in-venue interactivity.
It’s the same but not the same in terms of where esports fans get to spend their time.
Both approaches share an underlying assumption: esports audiences aren't only watching on traditional streams, with the platforms competing for their attention adapting accordingly.
