Bit Reactor has confirmed that its upcoming tactical game Star Wars Zero Company will not launch with official mod support—but the studio says it has "a lot of respect for the modding community." For players hoping to build their own missions, tweak unit stats, or create new factions, that means the game's mod scene will rely entirely on community efforts and unofficial tools.

In a recent interview, Bit Reactor developers emphasized that the decision comes down to resources and priorities. Building a robust modding pipeline—especially for a licensed Star Wars title under Disney's oversight—is a massive undertaking. "We have huge respect for the modding community and the work they do," a studio representative said, "but official mod support wasn't something we could commit to for launch."
The studio didn't rule out post-launch support, but for now, the answer is a clear "no." That places Star Wars Zero Company alongside many recent tactical games that ship without mod tools, even as the genre's most celebrated titles—like Alien: Isolation and Among Us—have thrived partly because of their modding communities.
Why no mod support?
