Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands appears to be getting a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Definitive Edition, according to a leak spotted on the game's Xbox Game Hub. The advert promises a new mission, 4K resolution, and 60fps support, plus all previously released add-ons across two season passes.
This matters because Wildlands is already playable on current-gen consoles via backward compatibility. A native release is what'll let it actually hit those higher resolutions and framerates.
What's In The Box?
The Definitive Edition seems to bundle the base game with all DLC and some cosmetics. That's the same pattern The Division's Definitive Edition followed earlier this year — which turned out to be a simple bundle, not a remaster.
"It's been a while Ghosts!"
That's from the official Ghost Recon X account, teasing more news on August 6th to mark the series' 25th anniversary. The Xbox Game Hub offer expires August 7th, which lines up neatly.
According to Insider Gaming, Wildlands is one of several legacy Ubisoft titles getting similar upgrades, with Watch Dogs: Legion reportedly next in line.
Why Wildlands, Not Breakpoint?
Wildlands was fairly well received. Breakpoint, the more recent game, was poorly received at launch, and Ubisoft spent months overhauling it to de-emphasize loot and gear elements. Perhaps that one needs more work. Perhaps Ubisoft would rather forget it.
The advert doesn't include a release date, but the August 7th expiry suggests it'll drop around then. If you were hoping for a full remaster, temper expectations. This looks like a native port with a fresh coat of paint, not a ground-up rebuild.
Ubisoft's recent track record with legacy titles suggests they're testing the waters for more straightforward re-releases. Whether that's good news depends on how badly you want to revisit Bolivia at 60fps.
