There are three skulls and one terminal in Halo: Campaign Evolved's "Truth and Reconciliation": Iron is on a ledge near a branching tree after you clear the enemies before boarding the Covenant battle cruiser, Endurance Spec is on the third support pillar in the Wraith room, Foreign is behind a locked door where reinforcements spawn, and Inquisitor is in the detention-center cells after you open the brig route.
That is the quick answer. The mission is short on paper, but the optional content is tucked into sightlines, locked rooms, and vertical jumps that are easy to miss while you are being hit by Grunts, Jackals, and Hunters.
The mission context and why the extras matter
"Truth and Reconciliation" comes right after the "Halo" mission, where Master Chief rescues marines stranded on Halo after the Pillar of Autumn goes down. The mission's main objective is to board the Covenant battle cruiser and rescue Captain Keyes from the brig, but the skulls and terminal are easy to skip if you are focused only on the forward path.
The skulls are not just collectibles. They change how the mission plays, and one of them is a genuine punishment if you like using enemy weapons. The terminal, meanwhile, gives you lore without requiring a combat encounter, which makes it the easiest optional piece to miss if you rush through the ship.
Iron skull location
Objective: Board the Covenant Battle Cruiser.
Push forward until you reach the enormous gravity lift that takes you aboard the ship. Clear every enemy in the area, including the two Hunters near the end, then wait for the objective text to change to boarding the Covenant battle cruiser.
At the very back of the area, look for a tree with lots of branches and vertically pointing leaves. To the left of that tree, you will see a light in the ground and a small cactus-like plant.
Walk up the sloped rock between the light and the plant, then look down. The Iron skull is balanced on a ledge below that slope.
Effect: Dying in co-op resets you to your last checkpoint, while dying solo restarts the level.
That makes Iron less of a fun challenge and more of a checkpoint tax. If you are playing solo, clear carefully, keep your distance from Hunters, and do not sprint straight to the lift until the room is actually clear.
Endurance Spec skull location
Objective: Locate the ship's brig.
After you ascend to the battle cruiser and clear the first group of enemies, you will need to open a door from the other side so Johnson and the marines can get through. Once that happens, you enter a large room with Wraiths and an upper walkway.
Clear the enemies, then head to the far corner of the walkway. In front of you will be a purple Covenant cuboid, probably a storage container, with three enormous purple support pillars nearby.
Aim down the sights of your weapon and you should be able to see the skull in the distance, perched on top of the third support pillar. You need to jump onto the cuboid, sprint-jump onto the sloped part of the first pillar, then hop from pillar to pillar before you fall off.
Effect: UNSC vehicles cannot be damaged.
Endurance Spec is useful if you like using vehicles, but it does not make the mission easy. The skull itself is the annoying part, because stopping for too long on any pillar sends you sliding into the room below.
Foreign skull location
Objective: Eliminate Covenant reinforcements.
After opening the door for Johnson and his marines, you move through tunnels into a huge hangar. When you enter, a Covenant dropship is leaving, but you do not need to chase the action.
Make a beeline for the opposite corner of the hangar. There is a locked door there, and enemies will periodically exit through it.
When the enemies appear, slip inside quickly. The Foreign skull is visible at the end of the corridor beyond the door.
Effect: Players cannot use weapons from another faction.
This one is a nasty little rule because Halo has always rewarded scavenging Covenant gear. No plasma grenades, no Covenant rifles, and no grabbing the enemy's best tool and turning it back on them. It is the skull most likely to make a familiar mission feel unfamiliar.
Inquisitor terminal location
Objective: Rescue Captain Keyes from the ship's brig.
As you move through the ship, you will eventually reach a room with multiple doors. One path leads toward Keyes, but the terminal is in the door immediately on your right as you enter.
That path takes you to a detention center with a console in the middle of the room. Interact with the console to unlock the cells.
The Inquisitor terminal is at the back of the third cell out of four along the back wall. You do not need to fight through a special encounter to read it, but you do need to notice the side door before continuing toward Keyes.
What it adds: The terminal is the lore reward for this mission. It gives you a look at the Covenant's prison side of the operation and the machinery around Keyes's capture without changing the mission's combat flow.
Order of operations
If you want to collect everything without backtracking, follow the mission in order and check each optional area as soon as it becomes reachable. Iron is first, Endurance Spec is next, Foreign is after the marine door, and Inquisitor is near the brig section.
That sequence also matches the mission's pacing. The skulls are not all hidden in the same kind of place: one is a ledge, one is a vertical traversal trick, one is a locked-room timing puzzle, and one is a side-room terminal. Knowing the pattern helps more than memorizing coordinates.
The real trick is not pushing harder. It is slowing down at the right moment, especially once the mission starts moving through the cruiser. A lot of these locations are visible only if you pause long enough to read the room.
What the modifiers change
Once you have all four, you can continue the campaign or replay the mission to test the modifiers. Iron is the most punishing because a single mistake can reset your run. Endurance Spec is the most forgiving if you enjoy using vehicles, while Foreign is the most restrictive.
That is why the optional content matters here. The mission is already a straight rescue sequence, but the skulls force you to treat the ship like a map instead of a hallway. They reward attention, and they make the same mission feel different on a replay.
