Alongside each team's colorful suit, one of the most iconic parts of the Power Rangers franchise is each team's unique Megazord. This giant robot combines the powers of each Ranger's Zord, serving as the team’s ace whenever facing a giant alien threat. Each season features multiple Megazords, and after 30 years on air, the Power Rangers franchise features over 100 different versions of these weapons, so it's understandable that only some stand out in fans' memories as the very best. A great Megazord needs to be unique and really fit in with the theme of its season. But, considering these weapons function as the last defense against villains who are terrorizing Earth and beyond, the best Megazords also need to be powerful. With those factors in mind, it's far easier to narrow down the best Megazords in the entire Power Rangers franchise. 10 The Delta Squad Megazord’s Bland Design Holds It Back Power Rangers: S.P.D. takes the franchise into the not-so-distant future (2025), where Earth becomes a haven for all alien races and Space Patrol Delta is an interplanetary law enforcement agency that utilizes advanced technology to maintain peace and order. The season follows the Earth branch of S.P.D., while the Power Rangers drive emergency vehicles as their Zords and use various futuristic police tools and weapons. Due to S.P.D. 's futuristic setting and unique police theme, the Delta Squad Megazord had many interesting abilities. Along with the very common sword and blaster, it also has a large judgment scanner that determines if a suspect is innocent or guilty, and a pair of shrink cuffs to downsize aliens. It can also ride the Omegamax Cycle, which can travel through time and shoot lasers. These are cool, unique abilities that bolster the season, but the Delta Squad Megazord is held back by its relatively bland design, especially when compared to other similar weapons in the franchise. 9 The Shogun Megazord Is On an Often-Forgotten Ranger Team Image via Saban The Shogun Megazord is in an interesting situation. Although the Shogun Megazord debuted in the third season of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers , ownership was transferred over to the Acquitar Rangers in Mighty Morphin' Alien Rangers . This often overlooked bridge season is considered Season 3.5 and connects Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers to Power Rangers: Zeo . It sees the original Power Rangers turned into babies, forcing Zordon to recruit the Alien Rangers of Aquitar to fill in until they can turn back into adults. The Shogun Megazord is a colossal walking fortress with a commanding presence. It has one of the best designs in Power Rangers , with the origami crane mimicking a samurai helmet as a unique focal point. With a design resembling an ancient, towering castle, the Shogun Megazord is a memorable weapon, but its lack of abilities prevents it from becoming a fan favorite. 8 The Zeo Megazord Had a Lot of Versatility for an Early Season Power Rangers: Zeo was the sequel season to Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and even saw Jason, the original Red Ranger, return as the Zeo Gold Ranger . The theme for the Zords this season was myths from all over the world. The Zeo team's Zords were made by the original Blue Ranger, Billy Cranston, and were based on the Phoenix, Taurus the Bull, the Sphinx, the Japanese Dogu, and an Easter Island Head. Although Zeo featured some other Megazords that were more powerful, the base Megazord makes the top 10 for its versatility. Each of the five Zords can be used as a helmet of the Zeo Megazord, giving it unique abilities depending on which one is used, ranging from a simple laser blast to controlling gravity fields. This unique gimmick makes a great case for the Zeo Megazord being one of the best in Power Rangers , but it is still lacking some raw power. 7 The Jungle Master Megazord Improves on the Base Megazord Design Power Rangers: Jungle Fury focused on martial arts more so than any other season in the franchise. Rangers used the fictional martial arts style of Pai Zhuq to summon their inner animal spirits, and then, with this power, they'd morph into Power Rangers and summon their beasts as Zords. The original trio of spirit animals for the Rangers was the red tiger, the yellow jaguar, and the blue panther. However, the Power Rangers completed a series of trials set up by three of the greatest Pai Zhuq masters. Giving them access to the red gorilla, the yellow penguin, and the blue antelope spirits, which can join together to form the Jungle Master Megazord. Although it loses the jungle cat theming of the base Megazord, the Jungle Maser Megazord improves in both design and raw power. The new Zords make each component distinct and the whole design more visually interesting. The Jungle Master Megazord used brute force to overpower its enemies, and if that wasn’t enough, it could join forces with any of the Pai Zhuq masters to add the power of the shark, elephant, or bat spirits. This Megazord rarely lost a fight, and whenever it appeared, fans knew the fight was already over. 6 The Mega Megazord Combines 15 Classic Zords Image via Dan Mora and Boom Studios Power Rangers fans need to check out the BOOM! Studios comics, as they were written for fans who grew up with the show and are looking for more mature storylines. The storylines feature a brilliant combination of brand-new teams like the Omega Rangers and older teams from the show, who are brought in through the multiversal Shattered Grid event. The finale of this event led to one of the best Megazords in the Power Rangers franchise. The Mega Megazord is deserving of the name, as it is made up of 15 Zords across six different teams. After many Zords were damaged in a previous battle, Time Force 's Pink Ranger, Jen Scotts calculated which of the remaining Zords were compatible and created the Mega Megazord from the remaining Ninja Storm , Mystic Force , Dino Charge , Zeo , Jungle Fury , and HyperForce Zords. This powerful Megazord is a wonderful homage to multiple eras of the Power Rangers franchise, but the design seems a little more like Neon Genesis Evangelion than Power Rangers , keeping it just outside of the top five. 5 The Astro Delta Megazord is Power Rangers' Take on Star Wars Power Rangers in Space is pretty self-explanatory, taking the former Turbo Rangers from the previous season and following them as they leave Earth to fight the United Alliance of Evil. This is also the sixth and final season of the Zordon era, ending the tradition of a continuous serial-style show with a regular cast that carried over from one season to the next. This season was also unique at the time, as the Rangers didn’t have individual Zords. Instead, they piloted the Astro Megaship, which could morph with the Astro Megashuttle to form the Astro Megazord. When combined with the Red Ranger’s Delta Megazord, the team could form the Astro Delta Megazord. This behemoth was practically unstoppable, and its sci-fi elements felt very reminiscent of classic space operas like Star Wars . Its main weapons were the dual Gyro Blasters mounted on the shoulders, but it was also able to launch its fists like missiles at enemies. Although the design is not as colorful as other Megazords throughout the series, it looks sleek and cool, and it perfectly encapsulates the space theme of the season. 4 The Manticore Megazord Beats Out the Phoenix Unizord for Best Mystic Force Megazord Power Rangers: Mystic Force featured some of the best Megazord designs in the series, making it extremely difficult to pick just one. This season had the Power Rangers using magic weapons and spells to fight their enemies, so they were a difficult Rangers team to defeat . Rather than summoning their Zords, these Rangers used magic to become their Zords. While the humanoid Zords were rather uninspired, the Megazords were truly a sight to behold. Both the Manticore Megazord and the Phoenix Unizord are extremely powerful Megazords with beautiful red, white, and gold designs. Ultimately, the second-best Megazord in the series had to go to the Manticore Megazord, as the Phoenix Unizord only had one appearance in Power Rangers . With a legendary arsenal of lasers, fireballs, a wizard's staff, and lion claws, the Manticore Megazord solidifies itself as one of the greatest weapons in the franchise. 3 Hasbro Knocked It Out of the Park With the Beast X King Ultrazord Image via Hasbro Power Rangers: Beast Morphers was the first season produced by Hasbro, and the new production team brought with them some fresh ideas for the franchise. The most notable change was that the Zords had the ability to transform between animal and vehicle modes depending on the situation. While usually teams had either animals or vehicles, this combination translated to unique design choices for the Megazords this season, taking elements from both. The Beast X King Ultrazord is the only Ultrazord to make the list. Although they are undoubtedly more powerful than Megazords, Ultrazord designs are usually too complicated. They tend to add way too many components from different Zords, which can bog down the overall look. The Beast X King Ultrazord is unique in that it is as powerful as other Ultrazords while still maintaining a very clean design. Along with the usual sword and blaster combos that most Megazords get, it can absorb energy into itself to unleash a destructive tornado of red-orange energy. 2 The Legendary Megazord Celebrates 20 Years of Morphin Power Rangers: Super Megaforce was the sequel to Megaforce and also the 20th anniversary of the Power Rangers franchise. The Mega Rangers that season were pirate-themed, which gave fans one of the best individual Zords in the Red Ranger's Super Mega Skyship . Additionally, as the 20th anniversary of the series, the season was full of familiar faces and references to previous seasons. There was no better celebration of the series than the Legendary Megazord. If the Mega Megazord was a homage to past Power Rangers seasons, the Legendary Megazord is a full love letter to the series. Equipped with dual sabers and a pirate cannon on its chest, the Megazord is agile in close-range conflict yet still deadly at a distance. On its own, it can be underwhelming, but it has the ability to summon legendary Zords from the past to create uniquely powerful weapon combinations. With the versatility of powers from SPD , Mystic Force , Wild Force , Samurai , Ninja , RPM , and the Q-Rex, this swashbuckling Megazord earns its legendary title. 1 The Dino Megazord Proves That You Can’t Beat the Classics Image via Netflix When the original team of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers had their backs against the wall fighting Goldar, their first colossal foe, it seemed like their individual Zords were not enough. However, the teenagers joined their Dinozords together to form what, at the time, was called the Megazord. The MMPR scene had a huge impact on pop culture. It should be no surprise to fans that the Dino Megazord has earned the top spot on this list. What it lacks in abilities, it makes up for in being the original, definitive Megazord. No other Megazords would have come to be without the Dino Megazord, and it hasn’t missed a step in popularity, with an appearance in the Netflix special, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Once and Always , and more recently as an event and playable skin in Fortnite .
