Halo: Campaign Evolved May Have Just Teased Halo 2 Remake

Those who have already beaten Halo: Campaign Evolved during its early access period have shared what appears to be a tease that the developer is working on a Halo 2 remake next. In traditional franchise fashion, Halo: Campaign Evolved features a secret final cutscene for those who beat every mission on Legendary difficulty, and this one seems to tee up a remake of the beloved 2004 Sci-Fi sequel. Quite a few Halo games have featured secret cutscenes for those who finish their campaigns on Legendary difficulty. These have ranged from gag endings, like the one in Halo: Combat Evolved that sees Sgt. Johnson hugging an Elite while the Halo ring blows up around them, to sequel teases, like Halo Infinite 's Atriox secret ending , to lore expansions like Halo 3: ODST 's Legendary cinematic that has Johnson teaming up with the rescued Huragok to access the Covenant Battle Network. Halo: Campaign Evolved's Secret Ending Teases a Halo 2 Remake Completing all 10 missions of Halo: Campaign Evolved 's main story on Legendary will reward players with two special cutscenes that play right at the end of the game. The first of these is a traditionally tongue-in-cheek cinematic that revolves around fan-favorite character Sergeant Avery Johnson. The secret cutscene begins with Sgt. Johnson watching Halo: Combat Evolved 's secret Legendary cutscene on a datapad, commenting that "Those were the days." The camera then pans out to reveal Johnson lounging on the wreckage of a crashed Warthog, which is located on one of the Halo ring's scenic beaches. Who’s That Character? Johnson leans forward, lowers his orange shades, and begins to utter an expletive as a UNSC Pelican dropship flies overhead. Johnson utters the line "Well, that's my cue" as he stands up. Johnson walks towards the Pelican, but stops in his tracks, looks straight into the camera, and says "See you in the sequel," which is followed by the camera dramatically cutting to black. The camera follows Guilty Spark's flight towards an orange-colored planet, and shows the Forerunner Monitor approaching a high-tech structure suspended in midair. This appears to be the planet Threshold, and the structure looks extremely similar to the gas mining facility located there, which players explore as The Arbiter in Halo 2 's campaign . While a remake of Halo 2 hasn't been confirmed by Halo Studios or Microsoft, these two secret cutscenes both point towards the possibility of getting one in the near future, with the first being a tongue-in-cheek tease and the second being a direct lore tie-in. Of course, these cutscenes could also simply be there to bridge the gap between Halo: Campaign Evolved and Halo 2: Anniversary , though a report from Rebs Gaming in May claimed that remakes of Halo 2 and 3 are in development at Halo Studios.
