The PS5 Disc Paradox

Here's the ironic part: the Revered Edition is exclusive to PS5. In fact, Sony's platform is the only way to get a physical copy of Mortal Shell 2 at all. That's a bit rich considering Sony's been aggressively pushing its digital-only PS5 Slim and the disc-less PS5 Pro, making physical media feel like a niche luxury. If you're not dead set on the steelbook and art prints, the standard £40 ($50) edition is still available at retail. That's the same price as the digital version, so you're not losing anything by going disc-only — just the fancy packaging. The Revered Edition's $70 price tag matches the current standard for new AAA releases, which makes its quick sell-out less surprising. People are willing to pay a premium for steelbooks and exclusive extras, especially when the game itself is generating serious buzz.
