It was always popular, thanks to the incredible TV anime by Ufotable Studio, but it had its biggest breakthrough with its newest animated movie, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza's Return. Records were broken in Japan and globally, and the next movies, Infinity Castle Part 2 and 3, are projected to be even bigger and showcase higher stakes with even more action. With Akaza down, the Demon Slayers, specifically the Hashira, still have big threats to face. Upper Rank 2 Doma, Upper Rank 1 Kokushibo, and the Demon King himself, Muzan, are alive and kicking. These enemies are too powerful, and the Hashira will have to tap into the three ultimate abilities of Demon Slayers to have a shot at beating them. These powers are the Bright Red Nichirin Blade, the Transparent World, and the Demon Slayer Mark. Demon Slayer's Hashira Will Power Up With 3 New Abilities In Upcoming Infinity Castle Part 2 and 3 Releases Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza’s Return had its big premiere in July 2025 in Japan. In this movie, we saw the Demon Slayers finally enter the Infinity Castle and commence the final confrontation between humanity and demons. Notably, Giyu and Tanjiro took on Akaza, while Shinobu took on Doma, and Zenitsu fought Kaigaku. Kaigaku and Akaza are now down, but there are still three major demons there to be defeated. The three major threats to face in the upcoming Infinity Castle Part 2 release will be: Doma, the Upper Rank Two Demon with Ice-Based Blood Demon Art. Kokushibo, the Upper Rank 1 demon with terrifying Moon Breathing . the Demon King Muzan, the progenitor of all Demons and the final villain who possesses high regeneration and the strongest abilities of all. To overcome these challenges, all fighters will have to power up, especially the Hashira, who make up the bulk of the major fighting force the corps have in their possession. These new upgrades are now officially lined up for the Demon Slayers in the second and third movie, set for a release in 2027 and 2029. The Bright Red Nichirin Will Be Used By Gyomei, Muichiro, Obanai, Giyu, and Sanemi To take on Demons, the Demon Slayers, including the Hashira, make use of specialized blades known as Nichirin Swords. These swords were forged with Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand and Scarlet Ore and are the only weapons able to behead demons and kill them. While Nichirin by themselves are powerful weapons, there is a way for a Demon Slayer to upgrade their power and make it even deadlier against Demons. This upgrade is referred to as the Bright Red Nichirin, and it's a power-up that's reserved for a select few Hashira in the final arc of Demon Slayer . This power causes the blade to go red, and when a demon is stabbed with it, they struggle to regenerate. To acquire the Bright Red Nichirin, one must cause the blade to heat up. This can be through ignition or friction, and among the Hashira, we are set to see Gyomei, Muichiro, Obanai, Giyu, and Sanemi unlock it. Out of them, Muichiro will be the first to tap into this power against Kokushibo. In the manga, Muichiro goes on to save the day in Demon Slayer Chapter 175, which was released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #43 on September 21, 2019. This allows Sanemi and Gyomei to unlock the Red Nichirin to behead Kokushibo in the same chapter as well. Against Muzan, Giyu and Obanai will also tap into this power, with Gyomei and Sanemi joining in as well. It’s a pivotal power to stall Muzan and protect themselves. “His blade reddens? What is this?! My body is stiffening!! It hurts!! It’s like my insides are on fire! The technique won’t come out! Is it the tree sprouting from me?! The trunk must be growing by drinking my blood! And this pain! It’s making my body so stiff! It’s because of that red-tinged sword! A red blade… just like Yoriichi’s…” Kokushibo after being stabbed by Muichiro’s Bright Red Nichirin in Demon Slayer chapter 175 The Transparent World Will Be Acquired By Gyomei, Muichiro, And Obanai The Bright Red Nichirin is a fantastic power-up that we're waiting to see, but it isn't the only one in store for the Demon Slayer’s Hashira. Another ability that we saw highlighted in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 is that of the Transparent World. As we have seen in the first Demon Slayer movie, the transparent world allows a character to see through the body of their enemy, as if they were transparent or using X-Ray vision . With this superior perception, one can predict movements and anticipate attacks, as well as figure out the weak points to strike. In the first movie, Tanjiro is the one who taps into it by remembering his father. However, he is not the only one to make use of it. Three Hashira are also eagerly waiting to unlock this powerful ability. In Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2, Gyomei, the most experienced Hashira, will unlock this power while fighting Kokushibo. In the manga, we saw this development in Demon Slayer Chapter 173 in WSJ Issue #41 on September 9th, 2019. Once again, after that, Muichiro, the prodigy of the Demon Slayer’s Hashira, will also tap into this power versus Kokushibo, also in Chapter 173. Along with these two, Obanai will unlock the Transparent World as well, but against Muzan in the final battle. For a brief moment in Demon Slayer chapter 191, Obanai could see the Transparent World, but at that point, it was already too late as he sustained a heavy attack that pushed him back. The Demon Slayer Mark Will Be Awakened By All The Remaining Hashira In Infinity Castle Part 2 and 3 Fans who have watched Demon Slayer are already well aware of the concept of the Demon Slayer mark. Some Hashira already have it, but some others have yet to unlock it . Muichiro and Mitsuri already unlocked their Demon Slayer Marks in Demon Slayer Season 3. Giyu also unlocked his own mark in the first Infinity Castle movie against Akaza. By the end of the story, all the Hashira who are involved and currently alive will go on to unlock this power. The Demon Slayer mark grants a significant boost to all attributes of the Slayer, and it's unlocked under very intense conditions. However, it must be said that this power-up comes with its own downside, which causes its user to die by the age of 25, or die after battle if the Slayer is already over that age. In Infinity Castle Part 2, we will see this power unlocked by Gyomei and Sanemi. In the manga, Gyomei unlocks it at the end of Demon Slayer chapter 169 as he prepares to go all out against Kokushibo, while Sanemi unlocks it in Demon Slayer Chapter 170 after sustaining heavy injuries from the Upper Rank 1. It must be said that while Mitsuri had long awakened her mark, we don’t see her use it in her battle against Muzan. The reason why is unknown. With all these powers, the Demon Slayers will come out victorious against the Demons and finally free humanity from Muzan. We're all eagerly awaiting the release of the next Demon Slayer movie, and reports indicate that it is finally coming out in 2027.
